🐾 Meet the Team: Sarah Lempicki, ECC Assistant Clinical Supervisor

Sarah Lempicki

We’re excited to introduce you to one of the compassionate and dedicated professionals behind the scenes at Boston West Veterinary Emergency & Specialty, Sarah Lempicki, our ECC Assistant Clinical Supervisor!

Sarah’s journey into veterinary medicine is one fueled by personal experience, passion, and a deep commitment to patient care. We sat down with her for a quick Q&A to learn more about what drives her, her favorite parts of the job, and what makes the Boston West team so special.

What inspired you to become a Veterinary Technician?

Helping animals has always been my calling, but when my family dog was hit by a car in 2018 and brought to Boston West, something clicked. Watching the veterinary nurses in action made me realize that this was more than just a job, it was what I was meant to do.

Where did you complete your veterinary training?

I spent two years in college while shadowing local clinics. Eventually, I was hired by a general practice and later joined Boston West six years ago as a veterinary assistant. I completed the Approved Veterinary Assistant Program right here at the hospital and have grown into my current leadership role.

What areas of veterinary medicine interest you most?

I love working in the ICU, there’s something deeply fulfilling about the hands-on nursing care and the opportunity to learn from every critical case. I’m also passionate about the fast-paced nature of emergency medicine and the quick thinking it requires.

What do you love most about working with pets and their families?

The bond. I love connecting with both pets and their owners and sharing what I’ve learned to help them feel informed and supported. There’s nothing better than discharging a patient and watching tails wag and smiles return.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the Boston West team?

The people. We truly operate like a family, supporting and pushing one another to grow. ECC can be a tough environment, so having a team you can lean on makes all the difference.

Do you have pets of your own?

Yes! I have a 13-year-old Himalayan cat named Bella (named after Bella Swan from Twilight), and three energetic Pointers, two are 8 years old and one is 5. The youngest was a surprise addition to the family, but we wouldn’t trade the chaos for anything! My fiancĆ© and I are also thinking about adding a fur baby of our own soon.

How do you approach caring for anxious or nervous pets?

I get down on their level, literally. I squat with my body angled to avoid appearing threatening, speak softly, and use treats (if allowed) to help ease their nerves.

What advice do you have for keeping pets healthy year-round?

Microchipping is a must! It’s an important safety net if your pet ever goes missing. I also recommend consistent flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, there are lots of great options, so talk to your primary vet about what’s best for your pet.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

I love to travel, some of my favorite places include Charleston, Alaska, and anywhere in New Hampshire. I’m also a big hockey fan, enjoy spending time with friends and family, and love relaxing on the couch with my dogs.

What excites you most about your veterinary career right now?

I was recently promoted to Assistant Clinical Supervisor, and I’m thrilled to continue growing in this role while helping support my team and our patients. There’s so much to look forward to!

We’re proud to have Sarah as part of our leadership team, her energy, experience, and genuine love for animals shine through in everything she does.
