Dr. Alane Kosanovich Cahalane is a dedicated and compassionate veterinary surgeon with over 20 years of experience in clinical surgical practice and veterinary leadership. With a collaborative approach and unwavering commitment to high-quality patient care, she has held senior leadership roles in emergency and specialty hospitals across North America and Asia.
Raised in both the United States and Canada, Dr. Alane is a graduate of Cornell University (BA, Environmental Engineering), Boston University (MA, Biology), and Tufts University (DVM). She recently spent over a decade living and working in Hong Kong, where she co-founded a first-of-its-kind veterinary specialty hospital. There, she played a key role in transforming the region’s veterinary landscape, mentoring professionals in a dynamic, international environment. She now proudly calls the Boston area home.
Dr. Alane is a strong advocate for team development, open communication, and cultivating psychologically safe, accountable workplace cultures. In 2018, she was invited to speak at TEDx WanChai on the power of trust in veterinary relationships, and she continues to lecture and teach at professional development events across the field.
With extensive experience in both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, Dr. Alane is committed to comprehensive, compassionate care alongside family veterinarians and other specialists. She places high value on clear, in-depth communication with pet families and believes that connection, trust, and positivity are essential to achieving the best possible surgical outcomes.
Beyond the operating room, Dr. Alane is an avid sports fan, especially when it’s a Boston team or one of her two children on the field or the ice. She has two dogs at home; a black Lab named Mona and a dachshund named Moose.
