May 5, 2025 · Meet the Team

We’re thrilled to introduce Dr. Rosa Yip a DVM on our Emergency & Critical Care team here at Boston West Veterinary Emergency & Specialty!
With a lifelong passion for animals and a career dedicated to emergency and critical care, Dr. Yip brings a thoughtful and compassionate approach to every patient and pet parent she meets. We recently sat down with her for a quick Q&A to help our community get to know her a little better:
What inspired you to become a veterinarian?
“I’ve always wanted to be a veterinarian—I never really considered anything else. As I grew up, I explored different aspects of the field, including research and lab animal medicine, but ultimately, emergency medicine is where I found my passion.”
Where did you receive your veterinary training?
Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine
What are Dr. Yip’s clinical interests?
Dr. Yip has a strong interest in critical care and emergency medicine. She’s also passionate about alternative therapies, such as therapeutic laser treatments, shockwave therapy, and acupuncture.
What do you love most about working with pets and their families?
“Empowering pet owners to make informed decisions, regardless of the outcome, is incredibly rewarding.”
What stands out to you about being part of the Boston West team?
“I love being able to spend more one-on-one time with clients. It’s something that makes a big difference during stressful moments.”
How does Dr. Yip approach anxious or nervous pets?
Dr. Yip tailors her approach to each pet’s emotional state, observing their behavior, going slow when needed, and offering them space to acclimate to their surroundings. If appropriate, she may recommend using sedatives to help ease stress during care.
Any pets at home?
None at the moment, but she’s a lifelong animal lover!
Top tip for keeping pets healthy year-round?
Stay current on vaccines and preventatives, avoid letting pets drink from outdoor water sources, and make sure your pet’s microchip info is always up to date.
Outside of work, what are Dr. Yip’s hobbies?
Dr. Yip enjoys hiking, walking, cooking, gardening, crafting, and working with ceramics, both hand-building and wheel throwing.
What excites you most about veterinary medicine right now?
“New advances in veterinary medicine are opening doors for better care. It’s exciting to see how these developments help owners and their pets alike.”
We’re proud to have Dr. Yip on our team and look forward to the compassion and expertise she brings to our hospital every day.
